PLUR = Peave, Love, Unity, Respect.
Though the '90s rave scene may have been defined by big pants, bigger pupils, and of course, the epithermal spirit of PLUR, the scene wasn't all hookups, pills, and trance. Between DJ sets, poi performances, and intense dance sessions, a whole host of nightlife photographers in cities including New York, Phoenix, and London hit the parties camera in hand, capturing these now-iconic cultural moments as they unfolded to the beat.
From spiky-haired partygoers prepping for a big night out on the warehouse to light artists doing their thing, here are 28 photos of '90s rave culture that'll rock your Kandi off.
